Exceptional Results Again!
Students and staff at Uffculme are celebrating today after achieving what may well be the school’s best ever GCSE results. An outstanding 83% of the year group achieved the gold standard of 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths in a context which has seen more turbulence and change to the examination system than any in recent years.
Headteacher Lorraine Heath said “I am so proud of the exceptional achievements of these young people. Their dedication, commitment and determination to do well, in spite of the moving goalposts, have undoubtedly paid off. They kept their heads and worked hard right up to the end. I also cannot praise our staff highly enough. They regularly and consistently go the extra mile for our students, in many cases spending as much time outside of the classroom with them as they do in. These results are a testimony to the strength of the combined talents and efforts of students and teachers working together to achieve success"
Almost every student in the school achieved at least 5 passes at GCSE or equivalent and 90% achieved these at C or above. The % of A and A* grades is also up on previous years with 64% of all students achieving top grades.
As always there are some outstanding individual performances with a large number of students gaining A and A* grades across the board. These include: Eleanor Clist, Lucy Clist, Daniel Conn, Beth Cookson, Chris Garner, Elliott Gibbons, Charles McFadzean, Ryan Pringle, Charlotte Radley, Ollie Sargent, Callum Taylor, Miles Townsend, Michael Thornton and Liam Travers. In all 38 students achieved at least 8 A and A* grades
