Urgent - School Transport week commencing 18 October

15/10/2021

We have received from DCC School Transport two items of urgent information relating to Stagecoach buses in Monday and to and school buses from Hemyock next week:

Stagecoach strike (Monday 18 October 2021) - update

As most of you will know the RMT union have proposed a strike for bus drivers working with Stagecoach Southwest – this strike is to take place on Monday 18th October 2021.  Despite last minute negotiations taking place we have been informed through Devon County Transport that the strike is still highly likely to go ahead.  This strike will affect many services operating from all Stagecoach’s Devon based depot.

Overall Stagecoach will be operating around a quarter of their normal timetabled services in Devon, but they will be prioritising access to schools for children.  We have been provided with the following timetable that is proposed for the No:1 bus that runs between Exeter and Tiverton, on which a number of our students travel.  As you can see there is every reason to hope that all students will still be able to travel on Monday, however it is worth noting that all services will stop running in the early evening on Monday.

This all the information we have at present, but if anything further becomes available we will ensure that it is made available to parents.

School Transport to Uffculme School from Hemyock

Due to a road closure along Station Road changing location the following bus routes will be affected between from today until the end of the closure scheduled 31st October.

UFF 6/UFF 25: Will now revert back to normal times and all stops now accessible. UFF 9: Pupils from Millhayes stop will need to catch the bus from Dobles garage at 8:15am for the duration of the road closure. Please note that whilst the closure is in place students from different buses may be mixed. DCC are sorry for the inconvenience caused and the late notice. They had asked for at least 48 hrs notice for any changes, but were not informed of the change until this morning. They would like to apologise to the pupils of UFF9 that may not of been collected this morning.
