Message to Year 11 Students & Parents from Mr Blackburn
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am just writing out with some final reminders about the Year 11 Prom and also with a request. I felt it best to email you as I know that not all students are checking their school email accounts, and this was the best way of reaching as many of the students as possible.
Today we have checked with the venue (Oake Manor Golf Club, Taunton) and following the final easing of restrictions they are fully operational and looking forward to welcoming us tomorrow (Tuesday 20th July). Students should aim to arrive between 6.30pm and 7.15pm, at which point the evening will begin.
The prom will finish at 11.30pm – this is the final time for picking up your children. Parking is available so you can arrive from 11.00pm to await the end of the Prom when students will be leaving.
I mentioned having a request regarding the Prom. In the last 2-3 days we have sadly learned of at least one Year 11 student testing positive for Covid. Whilst it is really sad, we appreciate the responsibility they have shown in self-isolating, even though it means they will miss the Prom. At this time of rapidly increasing spreads of infection it is essential that we keep this event as safe as possible, and therefore we asking that all students (for whom we hold consent for testing), complete a Lateral Flow Test either this evening or tomorrow morning / afternoon, and confirm the negative result to us before attending the event. The link for reporting results is here.
Finally if you have run out of tests you can find out how to access a test or get a pack through this link.
We are really looking forward to seeing our Year 11 students later this week and having this opportunity to celebrate their ‘graduation’ from Uffculme School.
