Design & Technology

The department features two well-equipped Product Design workshops.

Also a graphics studio, a food technology room and dedicated ICT suite.  

In Key Stage 3 all pupils are taught a wide range of skills in 2D and 3D.   

Pupils take part in a rotation system where pupils are taught Product Design, Food, Graphics, and Electronics. Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups.  

ICT is used regularly within all areas of Design and Technology, with 2D Design and Solid Works used in both Key Stages 3 & 4.   In Key Stage 4 Design & Technology is a popular option for pupils. We offer Product Design, Food, Graphics and Textiles at GCSE. 

Lunchtime and after-school sessions are offered for pupils to work on their GCSE projects.  

Over the last 3 years the Department has achieved the following A*-C percentages:   

  • 2011: 78% A*-C
  • 2010: 76% A*-C
  • 2009: 82% A*-C
